Pitt Meadows Regional Airport invites you to Experience the Thrill of Flight at Airport Day June 26, 2011
Pitt Meadows, B.C. (March 30, 2011): On June 26, 2011, from 10am – 4 pm, businesses at Pitt Meadows Regional Airport are opening their gates to allow visitors a "backstage pass" to the Airport. Visitors will have the opportunity to view regular airport operations as well as view and participate in an array of additional displays and activities, all free of charge!
Over forty various businesses are currently located at the Pitt Meadows Regional Airport, spanning fields such as aircraft parts and manufacturing, air taxis and charters, helicopter and floatplane services, flight training, hangar rentals, aircraft maintenance, pilot supplies and accessories, sport and recreational aviation, skydiving, sky advertising – and yes, there is more. The clients of these firms also differ, from the recreational aviator, to commuters, corporations and government agencies.The June 26th Airport Day will be a great opportunity to view the airport during operation from inside the fence, or "airside". See aircraft arriving and departing, watch a demonstration of the skydivers, observe flight students training – and so much more!
In addition to interactive booths and displays, Airport companies will be actively participating in creating lasting experiences and fond memories for their guests. Over 200 Cadets will be on-site with a band, parade and informational displays. Car aficionados can lose themselves in the Car Show & Shine. Visit booths of the various flying schools and the Pacific Skydivers. Children will of course love the Airplane Train and the COPA for Kids Flight Program which offers free familiarization flights to kids aged 7 - 17!
If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle for a bit, the nearby dykes along the Fraser River are a great place for a relaxing walk or cycle. And don't miss the Runway Cafe, a licensed restaurant located inside the main Terminal Building. With a patio overlooking the main runway, it's the perfect location to unwind and watch the final flights before heading home!
The Pitt Meadows Regional Airport is located 2km southwest of downtown Pitt Meadows, so it's very easy to walk, bike or drive there. Entry to the airport is off of Baynes Road, and parking is free. Washroom facilities and food services will be provided.
