NEW FLOATPLANE AIR SERVICE CONNECTS PITT MEADOWS TO DOWNTOWN VANCOUVER AND ALL COASTAL DESTINATIONS

PITT MEADOWS B.C.  The Pitt Meadows Economic Development Corporation welcomes Whistler Air to the community.  Whistler Air recently announced that the Georgia Strait Connector, a division of their company, will begin direct floatplane flights from Pitt Meadows Regional Airport to Victoria and downtown Vancouver where passengers can connect through to Nanaimo, Comox, Sechelt, the Gulf Islands and Tofino.

“We welcome this new service to the region,” said Terry Becker, Board Chair of the Pitt Meadows Economic Development Corporation.  “Aviation is a key economic sector for us and this new service really illustrates that the Pitt Meadows Regional Airport is ideally situated to reach major markets.”

Said Glenn Ralph manager of the airport, “With the new Golden Ears bridge two kilometers from the airport we are minutes from anywhere in the Lower Fraser Valley”.

On behalf of the City of Pitt Meadows, I congratulate the Pitt Meadows Regional Airport and welcome Whistler Air to our community.  Pitt Meadows is already one of the fastest growing communities in the Metro Vancouver area and this service makes us even more accessible,” said Pitt Meadows Mayor Don MacLean.

Whistler Air has been in business for 26 years offering tours and charters in Whistler and scheduled service between Whistler and downtown Vancouver. The new floatplane service from Pitt Meadows is planned to begin May 20th.

People from Coquitlam, Surrey and the Lower Fraser Valley will no longer have to travel to the downtown floatplane base to access these destinations” says Mike Quinn President of Whistler Air. “People from these regions may also avoid the hour long commute to downtown every day by using our affordable 10 minute express service with three flights in the morning and three return flights in the afternoon”.
